Does it really matter weather the world ends today, 2morrow or next yr? All u got to do is live every day as if it is your last!!! That way if the world does end, you won't be running around like some idiot, freting that you never got a chance to do this or that.

All i'm saying is live it up, enjoy life; make sure you live life to the fullest.

PS: it doesn't matter what scientist say, cause they r prone to change their minds all the time or some other scientist will come along and disapprove what the previous one said. And regardless of who is right or wrong none of them like it when someone opposes their concepts. Besides I believe that when the world does come to an end, that it will be consumed by fire, which means the sun has to destroy the earth. So unless all the polar ice caps melt by the end of this yr or the sun decides to go supper nova on us, then we aren't going anywhere.

Yes, science is not dogmatic like religious faith, science represents the best explanation with the known facts, and will obviously change with new evidence; religion represents what some ignorant fellow thought 2000(varies by religion, can be as little as 50 years) years ago - and often goes against known facts.

[edit] as to the fellow i pwned earlier, he is of course correct that there is an 11 year heating/cooling cycle; map these over the last 100 years and you will see a warming trend, as we have known since the 60/70s.

Back on topic: there is absolutely no evidence that 2012 is any more significant then 1952

Well.. Rocky Marciano won the heavyweight title (if i'm not mistaken) in 1952, so 1952 might actually be a better year..

I'm starting to think the the predicted end of the world 2012 is not so much an environmental disaster but more of a collapse of the capitalist/consumerist system of the western world.
Countries with debts they can never repay.
Consumers bombarded with the latest container ship load of LED LCD smart electronics, getting cheaper by the week.
How many iphones and plasmas can you buy to keep the economy (of china) going.
Here in Australia we are being squeezed with higher prices for all the essentials, water, electricity, fuel, fresh food as well as an overinflated real estate market. Don't get me wrong, I know how lucky I am to live here.
But something has to give.
Stock Market speculation is not a game, but is affecting the world's economic stability.
Must stop.....getting angry/depressed.

It's not an "if", but more like "when".

Anyway, I live day by day, so for me personally it doesn't matter that much.

Offcourse, there are numerous things to consider, if you want:

1° Which idiot will be the first to push the nuclear warhead button?
2° Will nature eventually turn against us (with or without our contribution)?
3° Will I be ran over tomorrow?

Thus, enjoy life as it is, like I do. Even with it's ups and downs. Don't think about what tomorrow could bring (or in this case next year, 2012).

Or money ceases to have any meaning and we go back to a barter system. Trinkets will have very little meaning to most of the people so the rich would likely end up the poorest in the world. Maybe. Fun to imagine anyways Very Happy

Just to be clear about something the mayans are still here ,theres some small communities around mexico and even in Sanfrancisco USA theres some mayans there, they are not extinct, of course from my point of view i dont see the world end in 2012 but a new begining for some and the end for others the mayans said: Es el comienzo de una nueva era , is like on the last years theres always been some tornados in USA but like the one that happened in joplin so destructive. i was talking to a priest about those tornados and he told me that theres a lot of sinners in USA and the land most be purified . and i told him that could not be possible theres good ppl too in USA and he explained to me why do u think theres not too many tornados in Mexico cuz ppl here have more faith.

I am studying the Maya right now and as far as 2012, it's just the end of their calendar round. a fearful, superstitious time for the Maya yes, but this comes every 52 years. and the world hasn't ended yet. I have heard a little about it coinciding with some astrological phenomenon but that's not a surprise given their advanced astrological knowledge - which was necessary to plan agriculture and war for them.
