I havent read through this thread so it might have come up already, but cant you only be sued for copyright infringement if you are sharing the files with other people, as opposed to just downloading them?

they way p2p works is you have to upload in order for the download to work.and that doesn't even cover seeding back what you take.if you don't seed/upload there will be no p2p.

that's why it's important to give back what you have downloaded from others or stuff you have uploaded should be seeded for a long time. like iamnephilim states there is no P2P if no one shares what they download/upload.

Hi guys, been downloading (and seeding) via isohunt for 'a while'. This is an old thread and I have looked at some of the (dead) links for peerguardian, peerblock etc, if someone reads this and could update me as to the best peer blocking software around at the moment it would be much appreciated... ta

Hello I Just got one of these E Mails earlier today, about Copyright Infringement for an Older Paramount Release, so is the Solution to not Seed at all--or do only some Studios Monitor Sites like this or do all the Big Studios? Is it the ISP that alerts the Studios, or is it from a Code hidden in the Download or what exactly? As I am relatively new at this, any Suggestion would be most appreciated: Cheers TRX:

fixed it but don't disable bbcode if you are quoting people Rolling Eyes ...mod

as bittorrent works you seed as you download.. copyright companies do not monitor or have hidden codes... they can get your IP from any torrent client from any torrent you download

Peerblock is good to have, but anyone can log into a computer, start utorrent, join the same torrent swarm as you and set up their utorrent to show log file entries of all the connections in the swarm. It will show your IP address, what country you are in, what you are downloading and when. This can be saved and used against you in court. All the person has to do is get your ISP to cough up your details and match them up with their records......Boom. Lawsuit. Not to try to scare you, but it is very possible.....

Yup.......literally the only way to make 100% sure you never get caught shoplifting is... dont do it in the first place. Same with downloading a .torrent file. If you dont download anything, nobody can catch you! Easier said than done.
Use someone elses wifi.......
Run your torrent client through a vpn like btguard.......
Use a seedbox to download.......

Although these few methods above are very good for avoiding unwanted attention, they are still not 100% either.

Hello Granted It has only been 2 days since the E mail was sent, but a Buddy Suggested it is just a Warning from my ISP, cause I am way over my Allowed GB limit for Downloads? The Peer Block Program is Watching a Lot of Addresses:

Morning everyone...

I was hoping that those in the know could give an update on the best peerblocks out there right now.

And provide up to date clean links.

I personally need one that is free and will allow me to dl without fear.

But I would much appreciate info and links on all currently available regardless of cost.

Your top three picks on the market would be great!

Thank you so much.

Hi there

I'm a newbie to isoHunt and would like some info on Peerblock. I recently received a warning from my ISP in regarding to some illegal download very similar to the first post stated.

P.S Is Peerblock similar to Bit torrent or uTorrent?

Help in the right direction is much appreciated!

From a Newbie also: Peer Block Works via Misdirection/Misleading From your ISP Address, to other 1's that are not being used, or such like that, I Suspect--It has been the Cat's Meow--I start it ASAP after Logging On, and I have not been Hassled since that first Annoyance many Moons Ago:

Does anyone know what a peer is? What do people mean when they request for more peers?

A 'peer' is a person sharing the file you are downloading. utorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing program. When you request more peers you are simply getting more peers(people) to share the file with you, which often results in a faster down speed.

Uh Hello New Good Bud: A Peer is one of our Fellow Folks who grab Torrents like we do: The More Peers equals more Folks accessing the Item U R Seeking etc Therefore making it come 2 U that much Faster--The More Folks grabbing pieces, the Better--U Dwnld it, tap into their Seed and Bingo Presto Away We Go if I get the Gist, but being very New--Also I could be way off, and would not even Know It? Hmnnn.... That's the way I follow it anyway:

Thanks guys I think I know what you mean now. I always wondered why some downloads were slower than others. Once I have the file downloaded completely, does it slow my downloads on other files? I can see low numbers going up and down with the word 'seeding'?? What does it mean (seeding)? I always remove the file since I'm unsure.
