I reckon they will one day, perhaps by attaching some sort of meter to us and charging us as we inhale air and fine us when we exhale carbon dioxide. Laughing

I think air will be taxed and soon only it will be linked to quality. As technology gets more and more advamced we will be able to monitor smaller and more specific areas for air quality. Those responsible for this quality (or lack of) will want rewarded (in the former) for their hard work thus making clean air profitable. Any comodity that is in decline or is becoming scarce (like clean air) increases demand (original source, Adam Smith - Wealth of Nations). We already have 'oxygen bars' and their product is taxed so it's not much of a stretch to imagine governments patting themselves on the back for areas with clean air by charging/taxing for the privilege (IMHO of course)

If they did I would suggest a some sort of flat levy, indexed against inflation, get it INFLATION <<<<oh man thats so good Laughing
