there is another thread discussing rap.
worth reading through. I am not into rap myself but did look up music and lyrics to Notorious B.I.G.
I did this as someone mentioned his work in detail. All I can say is I my not rave about his sound but his words are quite profound.

The only 2 people that I could find that played Emcee where Wayne Sleep and Adam Pascal I never saw the musical though as I am not into them. Rolling Eyes

The greatest MC will always remain RAKIM Allah. He gave birth the to style of rhyming most other rappers have long adhered to, from Jay-Z to Nas to Eminem.

I am gonna go with Run D.M.C. (reverend run started the "whole" genre, methinks), on this one, but was leaning towards, Kid N' Play .. Laughing

But I liked the movie "Notorious", but I am not a big fan of rap, because the artificial bass "will" just ruin your eardrums, get some bass like Primus, that is the good stuff... Wink ...I just sent a rap songs lyrics to lionofthelost though, so maybe he will be the next Emcee... Cool

I have been emceeing since twelve years old after my cousen gave me CDs by Big Pun, 2pac, DMX and Eminem. I have been working on my disk for nearly a year and am just finishing the beats at the moment. Will upload when finished so I can get all your thoughts.

Its so hard to pick the "best" emcee. One thing I do know is Lil Wayne is f****ing overrated. TI, Chamillionare, Ludacris, Outkast, Scarface are all better. And thats in the south!! I personally feel Nas is the best rapper alive though.

Yeah I feel pretty much the same. Not a lot of food for thought. Dont sleep on Sway and Kano though. They both kill it.

This wont be relevent to anyone not from UK but I really, really, REALLY dont like them N-Dubz bastards. F***ing talent vacuum!!

Thanks I always seem to on my own with this argument. Dont get me wrong, the dude is pretty good and there aint many emcees that rock the guitar. But is he the greatest rapper alive? 100 percent, unequivable, undebateable, not joking, never been more serious in my existence NO. I dont think he is the king of the south let alone hip hop as a whole. Real talk.

I totally agree with your viewpoint regarding Lil' Wayne. I've tried several times to listen to 'Lolipop' and for the love of God, I still wonder how come that song ever became a hit. There's practically nothing to it. It's auto-tune junk!

Does that guy ever wonder what he'll look like ten years from now with all those tatoos on his body?
