Twisted Evil No offence I think Norton is a pile of poo, I use AVG pro and it would whoop the ass off Norton, I think Norton lock people in little offices and say " Design norton so it is a right git to ever delete from a p.c " especially most who are old you will not have a clue how to fully Delete this programme, It act's like a virus in itself. AVG FOREVER ( only my opinion ) Twisted Evil [size=12]

Norton was good!

As symantec said they have improved Norton in 2008 versions also included with 360

Which lot of people is seeing the difference with 360 one

I prefer ESET right now

For maximum portection, I would reccomend something from what I like to call the "Tin-foil hat collection". These are anti-viruses that fli out at the first sign of a .dll file. Norton and kapersky are two examples.

Also stopped using norton years ago...

Not going back... Even if it`s the only company around,.. since that will never happen i`m safe...

I use Trend Micro since 2005... it`s agreat product... and right now i`m testing Trend micro internet security 2009 pro and it`s better than ever...

Latest reviews put the antivirus engine at the sema level of detection of those like kaspersky, nod32 and antivir....

Very happy...

You should give it a try.... it`s a fully automatic protection... you`ll like it...
Install and forget... that`s what i like about it..

I have found that single core pc's slow down so much that the only solution is to remove norton.

So I now use AVG or the free PCGuard from my ISP. I have found that they are just as good as norton If not better, with no slow down like norton.

Now one taken now that I switched to AVG

AVG uses 6½ times the resources that Norton does. Shocked Rolling Eyes

If you are talking about during a scan well I would say that is because Norton scans are more in depth. You should run scans at night when you are not on your PC. Wink

All in all I like Norton better I just got tired of buying it every year.

No. I use Avira Antivir.
It's been tested to be one of the fastest antivirus programs around.
I also used the Windows security settings to prevent avnotify.exe from running, and put updates in stealth mode. Then you'll never hear from it, unless a virus is detected.

Otherwise, I use Common Sense 2008(TM)

Avast! is also a good choice IMO. The standard issue interface skin is a bit annoying but it can be easily rectified by a small download and a little bit of taste....

Overall, I think AVG is the easiest most cost effective option.

I work for a high street retailer that pushes Norton as it's recommended AV software. It's the bain of my existance. We have no end of customers asking why their new computer has practically ground to a halt. Unfortunatly, we don't provide software support for symantec and they want your credit card details and £15 just for them to pick up the phone...
