Dear Friends

I am a beginner in making torrents - I had made a new torrents and to help Globe to download my files

I made 2 seeds

the 1st one is my Machine

the 2nd seed is my friend's machine

I have the same files on the 2 machines

so my torrent have now 2 seeds instead of only 1 seed

My Question is :

Why My IP doesn't appear in peers list in my friend's Machine as a seed

Also My friend's IP doesn't appear in my peers list as a seeder

we both use the same trackers

also the same client of Utorrent 3.1.3

he is in the same city - the same internet provider

but he is very far from my House

Can any one tells me - why we cant see each other as seeders in out clients for the same file??

Wish a Quick answer

He has all the data, your client has no reason to maintain a connection with him so it drops it

If your .torrent is uploaded to a site you will get a rough idea of the seeds when the trackers are scraped on the site but this will not count for DHT and PEX.
You can look in your client this will also show how many seeds and if you stop the torrent it will show the last scrape without you being on the seed list this is only roughly because of DHT\PEX\LPD , On a private torrent site its more accurate because DHT\PEX\LPD are disabled and it will only have one tracker.

It's possible.

You have to ask the tracker.
I think you uploaded a torrent to TBox (same username)
And these are the IP's of the 2 seeders:
Code:

37.107.61.*:52531   41.234.254.*:8080

I left out the last octet because some peoples are getting nervous with whole IP's.
But you are using a dynamic IP so your IP can be everyone and nobody.
And no I didn't use a torrent client and got them by downloading.
I really asked nicely the TBox tracker to give me the IP's and I got them.

So is it you and your friend ?
And PM me if you have problems that I post your possible IP's so that I can remove it.

But you want to know the IP's of seeders so I think you should not have problems with it....

1st of all I am so glad to find an answer from Tbox Moderator

This is Correct - I have the same username in Tbox

and I am already seeding from The 2 IPs that you mentioned

I think you touched a new point - Yes - I think My IPs is Dynamic

So the question is will it be different if I have a static IP?

Will Static IP inform me How many seeders have complete Downloading from me and my friend?

and if the answer was yes

How can I make my IP a static IP ????

Waiting your Reply

The ISP gives you an IP.
So it's up to them if it's a dynamic or static.

I don't think you can change that.

My ISP says I have a dynamic IP but it can take months to change.
Depends on how much I reboot my modem or replace my router.

But dynamic or static, is doesn't matter you will not see the different.

And when you want to see tracker stats then you have to ask the tracker.
A tool called Torrentspy can do that.
Or use the link in my sign.

At times there may be a reason you need to have your IP address set to static. A static IP is an IP address that never changes. By default peoples IP is dynamic which means it can change at any time. When port forwarding you forward to your local IP address, and if your IP changes your port forwarding will no longer work as it is not pointing to your new IP. This is the same for nearly all settings in a router that points to your computer, such as DMZ and logging. So to keep that from happening you need to set your IP to static so it never changes, then you no longer have to worry about your IP changing. (This should be done for computers behind a router) The process to set your IP can be intimidating if you have never done it before, that's why we provide this program to you, to make it simple. Any questions or comments just drop a line in the forum!
